Dr Kirsty Dawson graduated with honours from the University of Queensland in 2018, moving from her role as a veterinary nurse with AEC into emergency veterinary practice. She brings over 19 years of experience in the veterinary industry and recently marked 15 years with the Animal Referral and Emergency Network.
Kirsty has also worked at Brisbane’s Animal Referral Hospital, where she further developed her skills alongside specialist teams in surgery, internal medicine, emergency, and critical care. She now plays a key role in mentoring new vets through the AEC Graduate Program, supporting the next generation of emergency clinicians.
Her main areas of interest are emergency surgery and intensive care medicine. You’ll often find her in the operating theatre or ICU, delivering high-quality care to critically ill patients.
At home, Kirsty shares her life with Zeke, a laid-back Great Dane X, and Loki, a feisty Domestic Shorthair cat.
